I am having same problem with 4.9.6

i got the same error message.  the difference only is that, i never get the chance to see the window of P2KCommander to load.  I tried several times on different P2KCommander versions (including 4.9.6), i keep on getting the same "needs to be closed"  error message even before the P2KCommander window is loaded. Help please...  Cry

So, after dozens and dozens of attempts to get 4.9.6 to access my phone, finally, this morning, it did. But then it immediately locked up while trying to create a folder. *%$&, this is really getting exasperating! Then, I download 4.9.8 a few minutes ago, and here is what it does! See the screen print. Then I uninstall 4.9.8 and try 4.9.6 again. Here is what it does. See second screen print! Again, this using XP Home, Philips USB cable on Motorola V3M Razr. Help, please!

Why your tci command set is not "3g fast" ? Recent phones use this. and afaik the release's original config file has this setting.
btw what is your phone and OS type?

I tried it on Safe, Standard and Fast. It just happened to be this setting when I did the screen print. 4.9.6 comes up Standard, 4.9.8 comes up Fast. Both versions lock up on any of the three settings. My phone is Motorola V3M. I do not know phone OS, my pc is XP. 4.9.6 worked ONE time. Once, that is, until I tried to create New Folder then it locked up again. Any time I click on Re Read, it locks up and Windows shuts it down. A few times it has gotten to the point shown on these latest screen prints. However, the program locks up at this point until Windows shuts it down again.

Well it had to happen! I decided to try ONE more time before I posted this message and it finally worked! Why? I do not know, as I did everything the exact same way every time. I wish I knew why. I am still not 100% sure about this program yet since I had so much problems. However, none of the other programs I found on various Motorola modder sites worked at all!

Hello,

My OS is Windows 2000 Pro.

I am using the Motorola USB Modem driver labeled version 2.6.2 (part of the MSI filename), but when installed, in device manager, it's reported as version 1.6.0.0 with a file date of Dec 8, 06.

For Accessories Interface, Data Logging MCU Interface, Test Command Interface, and Motorola Flash Interface I am using drivers P2k.sys (v 2.3.0.0 dated July 28, 06), motswch.sys (v 1.0.0.0 dated June 8, 06), and motodrv.sys (v 2.2.0.0 dated July 28, 06).

P2KCommander does not connect with my phone properly (Version 4.9.Cool. It seems to know what com port the modem is on (13), but I just see it endlessly trying AT+mode=8 with no success. (there appear to be 2 unrecognized characters after the 8 every time. I presume they're carriage return line feed characters, but I don't know.)

Anyway, if I open Hyperterminal and set it to COM 13 and enter AT+mode=8, then P2KCommander recognizes the phone and everything works as it should.

Hope this helps you figure out what the problem is.

I tried doing this, but it didn't appear to make any difference.

In case some of you are having problems with p2kc unable to switch from at mode it may be that you simply need to unplug your usb cord and plug it into a different usb slot.  When you plug your phone into the comp before you installed the mod drivers your comp installed it using different drivers and wont change them so long as the device is the same and now you don't want that.  Just plug it into a diff slot and the new drivers will install and you are set.

hope that helps Smiley

I have the exact same scenario as nfsmith above:

A new clue that I noticed is that P2kCommander is writing the text "AT+mode=8" to a file named com13 rather than the com port itself.

I'm wondering if you have hit the Windows gotcha where you can't open serial ports beyound COM9 without some extra voodoo.  See:

I hope this helps track down the problem.

you need to download 2 things
1.: p2k drivers 32 bit   http://www.el-co.hu/dl/Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.7.0.msi
2.: p2kcommander 5.0.8  http://www.el-co.hu/dl/P2kCommander-V5.0.8-MR.zip

run p2k driver *.msi file
unzip p2kcommander somewhere you want and run exe
thats it
