I hope the software can be extended to read the Motorola MontaVista phones fs (like E2, E6, A1200, etc). It is linux and we have root access, but currently there is no handy software and we are working in console only. It will be great if we get a visual file manager to organize the file system

How about a small database for usb-devices with vendorID=motorola and productID=key for autoselect the right command-sequnces.
A switch for manuel sequence-set-selection as is and auto for choosing by known productID.

something like:
[<name-of-mode>]
0x1234 = <model-name> ;
etc.

next an auto-probe-mode for unknown devices?

At first i would suggest a list of devices known for functionality. It's not easy to figure out if the own phone should be supported or not.

May be a Problem of my P2K-Driver but the Commander crashes regular with my e770v. Perhaps you should add a additional thread for giving answer to Windows 'i'm alive' and additional checks if the Commander is ok or is waiting for a broken P2K-Driver.
