the generic failures showed when I used options dialogue to change to the c drive then the e drive.
when I use the latest version of the software it just faults and shuts down

it seems there is really only /a drive
the free space is real? you can check it from your phone menu

i dont know which V3 versions must have /c drive

And the answer is...aparently all razr phones don't have a C partition. At least the V3's provided buy cingular don't.
The stuff you want to goof around with is located at a:/mobile and in my case, a:/modile/audio

Getting it to recognize custom mp3 ringtones is a real chore but that is due to Cingulars relentless desire to make as much money as possible selling them.

The V3i, V3t and G&B branded V3i all have c/ partitions. Least, those are the ones I am famioiar with. First gen V3 has only the a/ partition. As for getting it to recognize new ringtones, I never had a problem, just needed to edit the music file to a reasonable size.

How small do the files have to be for it to be used on the plain V3 as a ringtone?  I used Acid PRO to make them 64-bit and cut them to a smaller duration track hopefully it will work.  Didn't work with a 3 meg file.

Ahh I just read somewhere that it has to be in 64Kbps format for it to be set as a ringtone.  Will update you guys as soon as someone calls me =:P
