I just got the a new razr V3a pnone from alltel and realized that i can't set my mp3 files as ringtones.(would have been nice to know that BEFORE)I used the P2kComander to oen up the phone and I read a post about changing the MyToneDB file to use my mp3 's as ringtones. It took me awhile but I finally got it open and copied the  MyTone file and changed it to reflect my mp3 files for ringtones. When I went to replace the one on the phone with the new one it crashed my comp and totaly blanked my default tones.Only thing the MyTone file had was a bunch of sysmbols of and /.I sure i did that wrong since i lost ALL my default sounds and mp3's! Is there any tuts that can walk me through  it step by tedious step? I hate to brick my phone or ask..I like to do things myself but I VERY VERY new at this!! One good thing is that I can do a master reset and it goes back to factory settings!! Well this time anyway...

Afaik, you have just to delete mytonedb and temptonedb , not edit them
these are index files, containing ringtone info
when they not present, phone will re-create , and pick up all mp3s

I went back and re-read the tut over and over and Realized that what I needed to do> (Stupid noobs  ha ha) Now th only problem I have is if I upload ringtones and all I have to completly uninstall all the drives for the phone-restart the phone-restart the computer just to use P2K  and MUS again!?? I was thinking about changing the startup screen and sounds but not sure if I should try...yeah ...why not! But does anyone know when I can get skins and maybe a choice of startup screens? I ain't very good at making gif's at all...and is ther a tut about changing that here? I must say this is the BEST site I ever went to do mods like this!!

1.) uploading your ringtones
2.) delete mytonedb and temptonedb
3.) restart your phone

At this point phone will loose conection with PC ofcourse (when you power up phone , it will be in modem mode), and need to re-connect, if you want to continue modding

Connecting a CDMA phone sometimes need help of MSU.
This is a shame for me, P2kc cannot switch CDMA phoen to p2k mode (i have no CDMA phoen for testing)
That why we need MSU, to switch phone to p2k mode, if MSU is connected , P2kCommander will see your phone which is in p2k mode already

Hi! There,

I'm a newbie.
I have K1m and I found the 2 files and deleted mytonedb and temptonedb and uplugged my phone from USB and powered off and powered back on and the RINGTONE MP3 I had in there was still locked, so I downloaded a new one, and still the same.

So I plugged in my phone again and checked to see if the 2 files were deleted and they were back again.
Did I miss a step?

Thanks.

what is your goal?
these index files (*.db) always created newly if not exists
when index file create. phone will search all mp3s and pick up them into index
that why , when you upload a new mp3, it will not shown in phone menu, until index files re-created

My goal is to use my new created MP3 files as Ringtones(30 secs long) that I did with Motorola Phone Tools Program.

My phone will not let me use those MP3, I cannot apply them as a Ringtone, the existing MP3 in the phone can be used as Ringtones.
I am using PK 3.3.0.

Thank you very much, I can stop pulling my hair out now.
The User Guide helped a lot.
I did not know there was an extra step that I had to do after I deleted the 2 files.
It works great now.

Most razr V3a pnones can't actually have MP3 files as ringtones. Though you can change and access the file to be able to set into ringtone, if you have done it incorrectly, it definitely cause default and deficiencies on your ringtone files. Make it sure everything should be done accordingly.
