Problem with activating account

I'm having the same sort of problem. when i start up my virgin media pc guard it asks for my email adress and password to verify my account. but then a loading bar appers and the screen says "Please wait. Your account is being verified". but it never goes further then that. i need urgent help with this as while pc guard does nothing i have no internet security and have already been troubled by viruses. i have tried running the diagnostic tool and no problems were found, i also tried deleting the activation files but it did nothing.
