I downloaded MacP2K & libusb and have had problems installing libusb on my Mac. I get an error message that reads i  have to install "lubusb 10.4u STD" to install libusb 10.ru STD..... not sure what I'm missing. I have Moto4Lin as well and have had success at connecting & modding my Motorola L6, but cant get Moto4Lin to connect with my new RIZR Z3. I'm assuming that Moto4Lin cant read the RIZR? So I downloaded the MACP2K as a thread on ModMyMoto eluded that this a program that recognizes the newer phones.
I'm using an Intel Mac (and already changed the p2k-core for that) but need to install libusb to make MacP2k work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Intel 20" iMac running 10.4.11 and Moto Rizr Z3.

I responsible only p2k-core, author of macp2k (which is a gui for p2k-core) is Digitol from modmymoto.
I run OSX 10.4.9 on my pc, compiling p2k-core i need libusb and libusb-devel package and Xcode of course, then simply "make mac" and can run ./p2k-core from terminal

other way is to use Digitol's packages (libusb,p2k-core,macp2k)
pls pay attention to use intel or ppc version of p2k-core (there are both in Digitol's package)

I think your libusb is ok (moto4lin works so libusb also works)
At first you can try to run p2k-core from terminal. Get p2k-core fromDigitol's package. There is 2 version, ppc and intel

Afaik macp2k is universal binary but p2k-core NOT.

Good luck

ps:Digitol is active now, i have seen a new release of macp2k on modmymoto

Thanks for your help s5Vi.....I know you do this as a voluntary thing so I appreciate the response & help. I'm such a newbie that I'm intimidated by using Terminal. Is there some kind of guide for the MACP2K somewhere to help me connect it to my RIZR? I'm thinking that I dont need libusb installer for Mac then per your response, is that right? Also the p2k-core for the Intel is supposed to be in the package, but do I double click it to make it work? or does it need to be located somewhere in my computer?
I apologize for my ignorance...... Tongue most of the posts in the forums are beyond my ability on a computer.
Thanks Again.......

Hi,
I have managed Digitol's macp2k on my intel pc:
simply open downloaded macp2k.pkg, and read readme.txt inside.
It said:  INTEL USERS YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE p2k-core with the included Intel compiled one. Control click on Mac P2k.app ----> Show contents, and drag
the included p2k-core file inside.

You will need an updated version of p2kCore for Intel. Either compile it or maybe Somebody can post the latest intel build of p2kcore binary for mac here? The issue may be the Intel version supplied in my pack is out-dated. Also Make sure if you are using leopard that your admin account has a password.

Today i have compiled the latest p2k-core V1.4 on my intel pc (osx 10.4.9)
here it is: http://www.el-co.hu/dl/p2kc/p2k-core_1.4_osx_intel_binary.tar.gz
latzest source package: http://www.el-co.hu/dl/p2kc/p2k-core_V1.4.tar.gz

@Digitol, I tried to compile "with -arch i386 -arch ppc" which is described to use to make universal binary.
I nearly works (call lipo at the end to merge 2 binaries), but have some problem
1. my libusb is not UB, but i found on the net, will install and re-try (my mac is offline, ethernet card not recognized)
2. i used libreadline, an external unix lib. is this UB? How can i decide ? with  "file" command?

s5vi, Awesome thanks for the binaries!  I have been trying universal build but everything has to be universal to avoid errors. You can use lipo -verify_arch to see if it is Universal or not. I think there is a universal version of libreadline.. I searched and found this info: "Note: It is possible to build multi-architecture readline binary in one step, for example set CC='gcc -arch ppc -arch ppc64 -arch i386 -arch x86_64' to build all four architectures (see Apple Xcode tools reference for details)."  Such binary is available from http://r.research.att.com/exp/.

found at this website: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/RMacOSX-FAQ.html

Again thanks for the Intel binary.. I will update my macp2k with the latest binaries! Eventually a universal p2core would be excellent!

btw, i installed the libusb posted above for 10.4.x and connected my phone to MacP2K and it worked like a charm! i guess that was the only component missing. i'm now able to navigate using MACP2K on my RIZR. my main concern was it was a "fake" RIZR as i read on digitol's ModMyMoto site that there are some being sold and i didnt want to get burned.
my next trial will be modding and trying to add a theme, skin or something to get it "modded"  Grin
i appreciate all of your help s5vi & digitol! thanks again!

Finally i have installed UB libusb and complie UB p2k-core: http://www.el-co.hu/dl/p2kc/p2k-core_1.4_OSX_UB.tar.gz
An now my OSX online, and Safari works great (OSX damn fast on internet too)

I have checked libusb,libreadline,p2k-core binaries with "file" command and rightclick/get info
Both method said these are UBs (and p2k-core now double sized). But i can test them on my Intel, pls test on PPC.

I found a minor bug in that new p2k-core release, pls dont use until i re-compile it. (On my home pc today)
This bug prevents repetitive filelist read
Also, when you start "-s" for slave mode, filelist will written to "home"/.P2KFILELIST file
OSX dont like "." in first char of filename? i will change "home"/P2KFILELIST
This feature used in my gui (p2kc) to read filelist from p2k-core easily.
